● 2010 INDUCTEES

Nine individuals were inducted at the Seventh Annual Induction and Award Ceremony and Luncheon held on Monday October 4, 2010.  In alphabetical order, they were: James D. "Don" Blackburn (former director of transportation, City of Raleigh; W. R. "Rocky" Bonsal (civil engineer Durham & South Carolina Railroad, vice president Seaboard Air Line Railroad); James E. "Jim" Harrington (NCDOT Secretary, 1985-1990); Kate Herring Highsmith (NC Federation of Women's Club president 1945);
Archie Honbarrier
(founder, Central Transport, High Point); Barbara H. Mulkey (founder and chairman, Mulkey Engineers and Consultants); Jerry Orr (director, Charlotte Douglas International Airport); Carl J. Stewart, Jr. (chairman, North Carolina State Ports Authority); and W. H. ● 2010 AWARDS
The four awards presented in 2010 were as follows: The Founders Award was presented to North Carolina Operation Lifesaver; the Nello L. Teer Sr. Award for Excellence in Transportation Construction  to the NC Turnpike Authority; the Perley A. Thomas Award for Excellence in Pupil Transportation to retired transportation director of Cleveland County Schools, Don Byrnes, and the Earl E. Congdon Jr. Award for Excellence in Highway Freight Transportation to Duane and Pat Long of Longistics. The Tom Davis Award for Excellence in Aviation was not presented in 2010.
● KEYNOTE SPEAKER
NC Secretary of Transportation Gene Conti was the Keynote Speaker, a role that he also undertook in Charlotte in 2009.
● EXHIBITS and MUSIC
